Human beings, as a race, never cease to amaze in the way they differentiate, classify, judge, and otherwise alienate, other peoples, persons, or classes. Looking at it religiously, do not a majority of religions teach tolerance, acceptance, and understanding as a basic element of their learning curve and spiritual enlightenment? Looking at it scientifically, are we not all the same species?
A grey parrot may look vastly different then a rainbow colored macaw, but are they not both parrots? Do not both species have astounding intellects that allow them to learn if not mimic another language so much different then their native squawks and caws? I would like to think that humans are slightly more advanced then birds, but the human race as a whole seems set on proving me wrong!
Sure, we can dream, design, build, and then operate vast mechanical wonders; sure we can fabricate, then bring to life stunning art; sure we can compose moving, meaningful, deep, pieces of both music and alliterations, but has the human race as yet been able to move beyond the boundaries of physical appearance, age, race, sex, or religion? No, they haven't...
Sad really...
I was reminded quite vividly, just recently, how crude many humans can be, though they claim to be an understanding people. Watching a news report on a speech given by Obama, the first black president of the United States, a friend of my grandmother was over, visiting, and drinking coffee. As we watched our newest president give a speech that was literate, articulate, and in my opinion, riveting, on the state of our union, this friend of my grandmother pops off with:
"Ain't no way some goddamn nigger gonna' run this country, stupid black fuck."
Needless to say, I don't think very fondly of the man. I voted for Obama. I find this old fuck to be illiterate, pugnacious, self-important, pompous ass, who just so happens to be a proven woman-beater. In all kindness I wish the him a painless death. T____T;
In another instance, this same man hears my music as I pull my headphones from y IPhone and proceeds to comment on that as well. He not so quietly calls my music: "Nigger Faggot Music"
My music had been on shuffle, so he had heard the tail-end of Mozart, and the beginning of Missy Elliot's "One Minute Man". I honestly don't view the musical genius of Mozart OR Missy Elliot as this so called 'Nigger faggot music", nor do I view any music that way, but moving on.
Moving on, humans now judge by sexual preference or orientation. HOW RETARDED IS THAT?! If I were a woman who liked a man [or vice versa] that's acceptable, but if I were a woman who loved a woman, or a man who loved a man, who is to say that my love is wrong? A gay friend of mine, Henry, is one of the funniest guys I know and is like a brother to me. he joyously points out, every chance he gets, that in the Bible it states:
"A man is not to lay with another man as he would a woman."
Or something like that.-shrugs-
Also, a quick question, why is it that self-proclaimed homophobes [generally homophobic men] spew rancid word-vomit and slander everywhere they go about gay men, but enjoy lesbians? How are a woman's homo tendencies any less homo?
The human race is a complex breeding ground of hate, prejudice, judgements, slanders, fears, and all-over crudeness and bullshit. The human condition never ceases to amaze and baffle me with the extent of their hate or stupidity. It's a bunch of crap.
I can't honestly say that I don't have my own judgements, but who doesn't? But at least I realize that most of my judgements are baseless scum, working like a virus in a person's brain, and I am working on getting rid of them. I work on NOT judging people until proven otherwise. I talk to people, even if I normally wouldn't, smile at strangers and I constantly find myself amazed by the interesting, amazing people I meet every time I erase another 'ism' from my mind.
I've met blacks, whites, Asians, natives, mixes, boys, girls, young and old, and have to call many 'friend'. I've met catholics, Jews, Christians, anarchists, satanists, wiccans, buddhists, Muslims, and atheists. I've met jocks, preps, rednecks, loners, weirdos, oddballs, skaters, scene kids, and goths. Within those people I've made a discovery that a far-too-large majority of the planet hasn't.
And it is this:
I only hope that our planet will be soon be able to see this, before humans become a lost cause.
We are human, we are fallible, we are different in every way imaginable, from race, sex, age, or religion, and yet we all bleed red, the sky is still blue, we are still made up of the same molecular structure and substances. we all have feelings, beliefs, ideas, opinions, humor. we are truly an amazing species. I feel sorry for anyone stuck in the destructive mindset of any '-ism ' or '-phobia ' out there, for they are truly limiting their world. For them I feel sorry, but I am more then thrilled to know that there are others out there like myself that believe that baseless judgments are BS and that there are people willing to look past any surface images and see the people inside.
"I don't know what to say to you,
we all bleed red,
they sky is blue,
you turned your head and touched,
just to feel it means that much..."-System Syn.
**If I didn't dye my hair bright colors, does that mean I wouldn't give you finger? If I wore a suit and a tie, would I not stab you in the back? If I was white, does that mean I wont rob you? If I was beautiful does that mean I'm above slandering you? If I was ugly would I not be snide? Surface appearances do NOT always show who a person is on the inside. Remember that if nothing else.
KNOW before you JUDGE

Showna was here.
it was a good little story, and a great picture.
It made me smile for a while afterwards.
It made my day.
